The Feast of the Chair of St. Peter at Antioch

st-peter-chairIn the ancient Roman traditions the Feast of St. Peter’s Chair at Rome was kept on this date; this custom remained unaltered down to the Sixteenth Century. The Chair of St. Peter became a symbol of the universal primacy, which Peter and his successors exercised over the whole Church. The Mass is the same as that on January 18, except that there is no commemoration of St. Prisca.
